STAGE – Burn / Chatroom / Citizenship 2006
Three brief, incisive, and provoking pieces that focus on the drama of teenagers’ lives. Intensely sensitive to the potential and pressures faced on the cusp of adulthood, the plays are straightforward and honest. In Burn, a lonesome foster child asks a young woman out on a disastrous date in a stolen car. On a riverbank one day, the friends he never had recount the events of his memorable final day. Chatroom – Six 15-year-olds type and converse online. A terrifying and compelling story of manipulation and the pinnacle of adolescent defiance. Citizenship is a sad comedy about growing up that centers on a boy’s honest and clumsy quest to figure out his sexual orientation.
